City Courtyard Garden
Echoes of Spain
A small modern courtyard garden provides a welcoming entrance to this home.
This small semi-shaded courtyard area drew some design influences from the client's Spanish heritage. The use of bright, bold colours and a simple modern layout give the garden a very clear character.
Colourful planters and garden furniture ensures that the garden is always coheerfulmand inviting.
Woodland-loving plants were selected for this sheltered, shady corner. Waves of colour brighten the scene as spring bulbs then scented azaleas put on their show. Fluffy Astilbes glow in red later in the summer and hold their interesting seedheads through the winter. Evergreen base planting provides form and texture throughout the year.
The new rear garden was even smaller and shadier and was treated as an extension of the living space. This feeling was enhanced the choice of a standard lamp style fitting and the small area of paving acting as a rug in this 'outdoor room'.
